faqs: Composing or editing a message in Hotmail sometimes crashes browser

Paradigm Services have been made aware of a problem that sometimes causes the web browser to crash (with Dr. Watson error) when composing or replying to a message using Hotmail.

Our investigations have shown that this crash is closely related to the speed with which the user starts typing or changing text in the message window.

If you start typing your message, or editing a reply, before the editor toolbar has been displayed in the message window the browser will almost always crash and attempt to display a "Dr. Watson" error dialogue.

Until a solution to this problem has been found, Paradigm Services recommend that all users observe the following work-round:

  • When composing a new message or editing a reply to an existing message, please wait until the message editor toolbar has been completely displayed before starting to enter any text in the message window.

Paradigm Services are continuing to investigate and as soon as a suitable fix has been tested it will be applied to the system.

In the meantime Paradigm Services apologise to our customers for any inconvenience this may cause.
